NOTD: Essie Cocktail Bling

Essie Cocktail Bling

So this lovely colour is the newest addition to my collection…I’m not doing THAT bad on my low-buy (which I started at the beginning of September). I left room for buying 4-5 polishes until January, and this is just the second one..the one I bought last month was this one. I would say I am doing QUITE good! Although it’s sometimes a struggle, I’m actually finding that I’ve been able to control the urge to buy nail polish, better than I thought. For this manicure I used OPI’s Nail Envy in Pink to Envy as the base coat, 2 coats of Essie’s Cocktail Bling, and topped it off with Essie’s Gel Setter topcoat. I really feel like I should do a review for OPI’s Nail Envy, although it’s not my preferred “base coat”, it has tremendously changed the condition of my nails for the better! Anyway, this polish was one that I had been lusting after for a while and it seemed like it kept popping up on everyone’s blogs, and I finally went for it. :3 This is a neutral grey-blue (the picture shows the polish true to colour), I would classify this shade as more winter than fall, but it’s versatile, I like it. When I first saw it in the bottle I thought it was similar to Essie’s Petal Pushers, but it is noticeably different as Petal Pushers is much more purple, and darker in colour.

Easy Fall-Inspired Nail Art

Top Row (L-R): Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Copper Penny, OPI Infinite Shine Bee Mine Forever, OPI Infinite Shine The Sun Never Sets, OPI Infinite Shine Non-Stop White. Bottom Row (L-R): Revlon Elegant, Revlon Copper Penny, L'Oreal After Hours.
Top Row (L-R): Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Copper Penny, OPI Infinite Shine Bee Mine Forever, OPI Infinite Shine The Sun Never Sets, OPI Infinite Shine Non-Stop White.
Bottom Row (L-R): Revlon Elegant, Revlon Copper Penny, L’Oreal After Hours.

So today I have some very basic, easy to do, fall-inspired nail art. There are probably several people out there that have done similar/identical designs, but I am not replicating any specific look that I’ve previously seen.

This first design was actually inspired by a post fivezero did, in that post she had expressed how she wished she could find small packets of candy corn to give away to trick-or-treaters haha! For this look I applied a white base and sponged on the colours (yellow, orange, white) to form a gradient, then I applied a copper glitter on top. I am not fully satisfied with how this one turned out in the photo, and normally if I’m not satisfied with something, I won’t put it up, here’s an exception. The picture doesn’t capture the glitter to my liking and makes it look messy, but I promise in real life it looks okay and well-tied together! Also on another note, I am not one to rock Halloween inspired nails (so if you’re like me, this is playing it ‘safe’), so I would probably not give something like this much wear at all, heh. If you’re into nails that scream Halloween, I recommend you check out itsjordanleigh’s post!

Candy Corn nails
This next one is a favourite. I LOVE dots/dotticures. The dotting tool is my favourite nail art tool; if you don’t have a dotting tool you can make a makeshift one with a bobby pin, or a round head pin stuck to a pencil eraser. In a previous NOTD post I mentioned that I love mixing metallics with dark colours and nudes in the fall, so here’s the best of both worlds. For the base here I used Revlon’s Elegant which is a grey-toned nude that I think is a great fall nude, then I took Revlon’s Copper Penny and L’Oreal’s After Hours to do the dots. I used Revlon’s Extra Life No Chip Topcoat to seal in the design. After Hours is a VERY dark blue colour, could almost be mistaken for black on the nails. I think the copper and the dark blue contrast each other nicely and they both seem to work over the nude colour. I can see myself recreating this look with other colours in the future!

Fall Dotticure 1

I hope you enjoyed these! I’m hoping to do more fall-inspired nail designs, so we will see if that happens, but there will definitely be more coming towards the holiday season as I love doing holiday themed nails!

NOTD: Thanksgiving Nails

NOTD- Jungle Gem

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Canadians!! I hope you are all more stuffed than a turkey!

I call these Thanksgiving nails because it just so happened that (Canadian) Thanksgiving happened to roll around while this was on my nails. I feel like all of my NOTD posts lately consist of Sally Hansen CSM nail polishes, sorry, I’ll try to change it up in the next few NOTDs – it just so happens that a lot of my CSM polishes are fall shades!
So here we have Jungle Gem as the base colour which is a beautiful dark teal that I adore wearing in the fall! This one came out in the 2013 fall collection (they had some amazing colours in that collection!), but it is still available in the permanent line. I think OPI’s Ski Teal We Drop is a similar colour to this but it’s more blue whereas Jungle Gem has much more true green-teal tones to it. As you can see, I’ve added some gold accents to my nails as well because I have this thing where I LOVE mixing metallic golds and silvers with dark creme polishes and nudes in the fall. So on my ring finger I’ve applied Sally Hansen CSM in Crown Jewels, this is a ‘chunky'(doesn’t feel textured on the nails though) gold glitter that I really enjoy, only downside to this is that I find the clear base to be very dull once dried, but that’s nothing a shiny top coat can’t fix! And I’ve also added gold dots to all my other nails with Revlon’s Gold Coin, I love this polish for doing accents.

I have been feeling SO lazy the past couple days, but I’m thinking it’s because last week was a brutal week for me because I had VERY early, long days (not used to those 7 am wake ups anymore >.<), but I’ve caught up on sleep over the weekend and ate good food, so food coma for the next few days, and then I will be up and at ’em again! Seriously, long weekends pop up when absolutely needed, I don’t know if it’s psychological or not, but every time, the week before a long weekend just seems exhausting! ALSO, another ‘life update’ will probably be coming up in the next week or so, so stay tuned!

September 2015 Nail Polish Favourites

September2015NailFaves

We’re only 6 days into October, but I feel like I’m super late on this post for some reason. I feel like I have a lot of nail polish favourites this month because I actually had time on my hands to experiment around with different nail polishes (i.e., changing my nail polish more than once a week, hence the relatively frequent-ish NOTD posts). You’ve also seen the majority of these polishes on my nails over the past month so you can actually see my favourites in action!

OPI Baroque…But Still Shopping – a beautiful gold with gold glitter [funny story stashmatters, in music class at school, the teacher was talking about Baroque music to the kids, I just about lost it].

OPI Tiramisu For Two – the most perfect pink toned nude your nails want to be seen wearing.

Essie Petal Pushers – it was super hard to capture the true tone of this shade, but it’s a grey-toned purple with blue undertones, I think it’s perfect for the fall and it will probably be my go to polish when I can’t decide on what to wear!

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Ruby Do – unfortunately I do not have a swatch of this one, but this is the colour I’ve been wearing on my toes since late August (sorry not sorry, I don’t do feet pictures)! This is a super pretty dark berry colour, once again, perfect for the fall!

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure In Full Blue-m – this is a pale bright(but not in your face kind of bright) blue, if you’re looking to add some pastel in your life in the fall, this could be the one.

Essie On A Silver Platter – one of my favourite glitters, so much pretty packed into one polish!

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure Flora Donna – a very pretty dusty purple shade, definitely recommend having something like this in your collection for the fall!

Mineral Fusion Midnight Ridge – a vegan friendly dark blue nail polish, slightly different than the dark blues I own, so I liked it.

OPI Nail Envy Strengthener in Pink to Envy – I don’t have a swatch for this one either, not that a swatch would really help. This has a slight pink tone to it, it gives your nails that natural pink flush colour to them, and makes them super shiny. I’ve been using this a lot lately because my nails are in the final stages of recovering from a bad shellac nail experience from back in August – the tips of my nails were actually paper thin at one point, it was horrific! This has helped tremendously in strengthening my nails, I’ve used it as a base coat for a couple of manicures when I’m not using my Essence base coat.

And there you have it, my September nail favourites, what are some of your September/fall nail polish favourites?

NOTD: Sally Hansen In Full Blue-m & Essie On A Silver Platter

NOTD In Full Bluem, On A Silver Platter

This Sally Hansen shade In Full Blue-m came out in drugstores in Canada in late August, I believe there were 2 on the display at the time, but it wasn’t widely available until mid-September in my area. I was a bit disappointed with this colour because it wasn’t at all what I thought it would be. If you’ve seen my past NOTD posts with the new SH Complete Salon Manicure polishes, you’d have noticed that I mentioned the colours all look deeper than how it looks in the bottle, but in this case, it looks brighter. In the bottle (although the lighting isn’t doing it justice here because it was so bright out when I did the pictures) it shows up as a grey/muted blue, but once applied it looks a lot brighter, and when light hits it, it looks like a bright, light blue. It reminds me of Essie’s Parka Perfect, but without the shimmer, but even that one is a bit more muted than this colour. Basically, in the bottle, it looked very similar to Essie’s Cocktail Bling, but a smidge bit bluer – which is what I wished this would have looked like. Besides the deceiving colour, the application was really good, you could get away with one coat for this one, but I prefer two – but there is absolutely no streakiness to it whatsoever!
Anyway, I paired this with Essie’s On A Silver Platter which is a glitter that I absolutely LOVE (and I normally don’t like glitter), the gold shimmer base with the blue-teal glitter is pure bliss! AND this glitter doesn’t feel gritty on your nails, it feels as smooth as a baby’s bottom!

In Full Blue-m Bottle

I felt like I needed to show a picture of this bottle while it was in non-direct daylight so that you could actually see what it looks like. This is what the colour looks like in the bottle, and how it looks like in the store (a dusty light blue), but on the nails it looks much brighter.

Past NOTD posts with new SH CSM shades:

NOTD: Flora Donna

NOTD Flora Donna

Happy Friday! I was planning on doing a review post today, but unfortunately I’m a bit under the weather and don’t feel like I have the energy to do that post, so I thought I’d do a NOTD instead to tickle your fancy.

So this is another new shade by Sally Hansen in their Complete Salon Manicure line, I have 4 new shades inclusive of this one, but my low-buy is preventing me from buying anymore 😦 The new shades are so lovely though! Check out some of the other new shades I’ve done NOTDs for: Poof Be-gonia! and Bow To the Queen.
One thing I’ve noticed with these shades is the fact that they’re quite deeper than how they appear in the bottle, once applied, but the colours look even more amazing once they’re applied! This is a cool-toned, muted/dusty, greyed lilac colour that is beyond perfect for the fall. This is a great neutral fall shade, it gives you a bit of colour without having to go dark! I have absolutely NOTHING like it in my collection. The application was flawless and good in one coat, it also dries very shiny.
If you’re at your drugstore, you should definitely check out these new shades!

OPI Fall 2015 Venice Collection Swatches (Pt. 2)

Last week I posted Part 1 of the OPI Venice collection swatches, you can check that out here and you can check out the limited edition polishes from this collection here. Now that we have that out of the way, let’s move onto these new swatches!

OPI Venice 1 of pt2

L-R:
It’s a Piazza Cake – This is a burnt orange creme polish that reminds me of leaves (how fall is that!). I think it’s the perfect fall orange polish, it’s not too bright, and it’s not too dark, it’s a perfectly in between shade of orange. This colour was a one coat wonder, but if you want to slightly deepen up the colour, you could apply a second coat, but it’s really not necessary. Although I think that this is a perfect fall orange shade, I personally don’t really like shades like these, so I’d find a way to incorporate it into nail art (or step out of my comfort zone and wear it like a queen), which is definitely not very hard to do!

Worth a Pretty Penne – What a clever, clever name. I said in the limited edition swatches that Baroque…But Still Shopping! was probably my new favourite metallic, but I think this is a VERY close contender, so we’ll call this one my favourite metallic copper shade? This is another one coat wonder, but of course, like with most metallics, you can apply more coats to give it more dimension. This shade to me is very unique, it’s a foil polish with a copper base and rose gold shimmer. It looks like a liquid penny, a brand new shiny penny.

Gimme a Lido Kiss – I judged this colour SO hard when I first saw it. In the bottle it looks like your typical red polish with fuchsia shimmer, and I have a strong distaste towards those shades because they’re overdone and don’t look good on me. Once I applied it, I was taken aback by it, how it looks in the bottle is not at all what it looks like on your nails. Applied, it’s a bright red colour with very subtle shimmer that gives your nails a red glow, I loved it! This is also a one coat wonder, and the formula is fabulous and goes on ever so smoothly! This is definitely a go-to for Christmas nails, the contrast of this colour against white freshly fallen snow…..although it hardly snows out on the west coast..but you get the idea. But as with many good things, this does have a downside, as with most red polishes, this one stains your nails and cuticles pretty badly, but nothing a little extra nail polish remover can’t fix!

OPI Venice 2 of pt 2

L-R:
Amore at the Grand Canal – Seeing this red in the bottle, I was actually looking forward to liking it, and what do you know? I did! I don’t really like red polishes, I’m VERY picky when it comes to red polishes because I don’t think red generally suits me for nail polish. This red is a deep fall/winter red and different from the other deep reds I have. This one, like half the collection, is a one coat wonder! The application was smooth sailing, it was rather delightful. I expected this one to stain my nails but it had negligible staining, especially compared to Gimme a Lido Kiss.

O Suzi Mio – I LOVE LOVE LOVE dark purple polishes, I think they look really elegant on the nails and they can be a good substitute for black nails. This one took 2 coats for complete opaqueness and application was easy and not streaky at all. One thing I especially like about this shade is that it’s a true dark purple that won’t be mistaken for black.  I know I will be wearing this loads for the fall!

My Gondola or Yours? – Hmm. In the bottle this looks like a charcoal-metallic black, if you look closely. This polish was a bit of a disappointment because the formula had a thin and runny consistency. It took me 2 coats to make it fully opaque but application is a little bit tricky so it could take 3 coats. The metallic shimmer isn’t super visible on your nails, but it looks like a pearly black if you wear a topcoat. In general it looks like a “light” black. This is a nice shade to have in your collection as it’s a change from stark black, but the formula is a bit of a downer.

SO! My overall verdict. I am SUPER impressed with the collection as a whole, inclusive of the limited edition shades. The formulas for these polishes are absolutely impeccable, it’s hard to find a collection where almost every polish is a one coat wonder! But as I expressed in the first part of the swatches, I do find this collection to have a strange mix of colours for a fall collection, but that is what OPI was going for, to incorporate pastels, reds, blues, metallics, and nudes into the assortment. The benefit of having such an assortment in one collection is that there will be something for everyone, which I find to be so true with this collection! Although I loved the majority of these polishes, my absolute favourites out of the 12 permanent shades are: Tiramisu for Two, Gelato On My Mind, Worth a Pretty Penne, Gimme a Lido Kiss, Amore at the Grand Canal, and O Suzi Mio.

What do you think of the OPI Venice polishes? What are your favourites?

NOTD: Mineral Fusion Midnight Ridge

Midnight Ridge Mineral Fusion

So this may be a new colour to my collection..I said low-buy, not no-buy, and I left myself room for 4-5 polishes, so I guess now it’s down to 3-4? Hehe. These are 100% vegan, toluene free, camphor free, DBP free, formaldehyde free, and cruelty free. These retail for $7.99 CAD and are available at London Drugs, The Real Canadian Superstore, Whole Foods, and several other select ‘natural/eco-friendly’ food/product selling places/markets, as well as online. You can also check online on their website’s store locator to see where they’re available near you! These polishes really stick out to me because of their unique colour line, and the fact that they’re free of cruelty and several harsh chemicals.
So anyway, as I was strolling the aisles of my London Drugs, I came across the colour Midnight Ridge and couldn’t resist! Honestly though, I can’t even count the number of times that I’ve been resisting the temptation to buy polishes after browsing the nail polish aisles, so I am improving! This is a dusty dark blue, which I thought would be perfect for the fall since I love dark colours for this time of year! I don’t have anything of the sort; all of the dark blues I own are bold, navy colours, whereas this one has that special muted dustiness to it. This is only my second Mineral Fusion polish, but the application to these polishes are so great and the formula was really easy to work with. I also like the brush because it’s the perfect size for my liking, not too thin, and not too flat and wide. One thing that I am not completely sure about is the cap to this bottle, usually ‘irregular’ caps have two caps, a normal cylindrical shaped one inside of the irregular cap. This bottle on the other hand, it LOOKS like there’s a cylindrical cap inside, but I just can’t figure out if you can pull it out or not, or how to pull it out of the outside cap >.< Either way, this cap isn’t too uncomfortable to hold, so it doesn’t really matter to me, but if any of you have used this polish before, TELL ME THINGS!

Also, my go to combination of base + top coat is Essence the Gel Nail Polish Base Coat and Essie Gel Setter Topcoat. It seriously extends the length of your manicure and makes your nails SUPER shiny, I can’t stop looking at my nails!

Have you tried this brand of polishes?

OPI Fall 2015 Venice Collection Swatches (Pt. 1)

Today I will be showing you some swatches from the OPI Fall 2015 Venice collection. This collection comes with a total of 15 colours: 12 of which are to be added to the permanent line and 3 of which are limited edition colours (swatched here). These are available at select salons and drugstores across Canada and the US, and retail for $10-12 CAD. I’ve broken down the swatches of the permanent 12 into two posts, so today’s swatches are the “lighter” creme shades in the collection, and I will post the “darker” shades (Pt. 2) next week!

OPI Venice Swatches 1 of Part 1

L-R:
I Cannoli Wear OPI – This is a pale creamy grey colour, applied on the nails it looks like a grey-toned white. To me this is a fall white, it’s not bright (i.e., what you’d wear in the summer), but more on the muted/dull side. So if you were really digging white nails in the summer and aren’t ready to let go of the white trend, pick this one up for a more elegant fall-appropriate manicure! The formula is thin (don’t be alarmed if you have ridges on your nails and they look extra enhanced after the first coat!), but not runny, two thin coats is all you need for a full, even coverage. This is a shade that is completely new to my collection.

Be There in a Prosecco – This is your typical nude colour in my opinion, a peachy-white nude. It has excellent coverage in one coat, but when doing several coats, you have to make sure you wait for the first coat to completely dry, otherwise there will be pulling and dragging from the cuticle. This takes about 2-3 coats for complete opacity. It isn’t streaky at all which is a problem I find with most nudes similar to this one. Just like with I Cannoli Wear OPI, do not be alarmed if you notice that any nail imperfections look enhanced after the first coat, the second coat completely evens out the nail. Although application and everything was easy, this is not a nude colour that I would personally reach for because it’s too white-based for my liking.

Tiramisu For Two – This is a peach-pink nude that is a one coat wonder! I featured this in a NOTD post recently, paired with one of the limited edition colours. This is by far one of my favourite nude polishes that I own, it’s super pretty and seems like a nude that would be flattering on all skin tones! I raved about this one enough in the NOTD post, but I know that I will get a lot of use out of this one for the fall. The closest I have to this colour in my collection is an OPI Infinite Shine polish in You’re Blushing Again, but that one is more pink-y and slightly darker, whereas this one is more peach-toned.

OPI Venice 2 of Part 1

Before I go into more depth about each of these polishes, can we take a minute and remind ourselves that this is a FALL collection and not a SPRING collection? Okay, thanks.

L-R:
A Great Opera-tunity – This is a really pretty coral-peach creme that is unique to my collection as anything remotely similar is much darker and more orange than this. This one has great coverage in one coat and is completely wearable in one coat, but if you want to slightly deepen up the colour and even it out, you can do 2 coats. This isn’t very “fall” to me, but it could be a summer-fall transition colour, I guess.

Purple Palazzo Pants – Now THAT is a name and a half! This screams spring-summer to me, not fall! What are you doing OPI?! This is a beautiful cool-toned purple that gives you a great flush of colour on the nails but isn’t too outrageous. The closest colour I have to this in my collection is Rimmel London’s Sweet Lavender, but there are some subtle tone differences between the two (the Rimmel shade has more of a pink tone to it), and this OPI one is a bit lighter. One coat was absolutely fine for this, but two coats gives it more shine and a more even-creme finish. One downside to this polish was that even with 2 coats, it showed imperfections on my nails, but applying a topcoat helps to minimize this. I think I’ll be getting a lot more wear out of this one in the coming spring and summer rather than this fall/winter.

Gelato On My Mind – Once again, WHAT ARE YOU DOING OPI!?! This is not a fall colour, this is spring/summer. Out of these 6 polishes, the formula on this one was the least of my favourites (relatively speaking), but even then, for this type of colour, it had a great formula. I’d recommend 3 coats for this one. This colour is super fun and VERY bright, much brighter than I expected based on the bottle. It also looks like it’s glowing because it’s so bright. In comparison with Essie’s Mint Candy Apple, which is what I was reminded of when I saw this in the bottle, I’d say this one is much brighter (more turquoise-y) and the formula is better. I would have loved to have a colour like this in the summer, but I don’t think I’ll be rocking this one very much for the fall.

I will give a final verdict based on all the polishes in the collection once I’ve done Part 2 of the swatches, but so far, I am SUPER impressed. The formulas for these polishes are impeccable, well done OPI.

Do you have any polishes from the Venice collection? Which ones are your favourites from these swatches?

11 Nail Polishes I Regret Purchasing

I don’t like to have regrets, but it happens, and then I get on the little choo-choo train to Hogwarts and move on with my life. So here are 11 (why stop at 10 when you could annoy people by upping it to that lovely prime number of 11!) polishes I regret buying. Most of these are old purchases, but a few of these are still available, but in all honesty, I just wanted to vent. Some of these polishes I regret because I don’t like the formula, others because I don’t like the colour (on me). I know that some of these colours are raved about by other people, but we are all entitled to our opinions, so don’t be offended!

regrets1

L-R:

Maybelline Color Show in Orange Fix
I think I got this one 4-5 years ago, and a while after I had purchased this, Tangerine happened to be colour of the year or something. Why did I get this? Because at the time I thought Orange was the New Black, but apparently it IS, and they even made a TV show about it! (see what I did there 😉 ). Jokes aside, orange was a colour I was lacking in my collection of polishes, and after I bought this, I realized it was lacking for good reason. The finish of this polish confused me, it was like a weird wannabe matte-vinyl-rubber-satin finish, and the shade of orange is too hot (not warm, hot). I just don’t like anything about this polish and haven’t even gotten a full manicure out of it because I just couldn’t.

Sally Hansen Diamond Strength in Something Blue
I got this a few years (~3 years) back as well, but how I wanted to LOVE this polish so so bad! It’s a cool toned silver base with bright blue and teal glitter flecks. In the bottle it looks so nice! But the formula is so bad. It’s gunky and super hard to apply because of the consistency, and once you’ve applied it, it dries gritty because of the glitter and it’s just not a nice look overall. It also requires about 3 coats to be opaque, but the formula is so thick that it just doesn’t even dry.

Nicole by OPI in I’ll Be At the Pool
I tried so hard to find swatches for this when I first bought it, but it was completely non-existent on the internet (think there are a couple now). This polish is nice, good formula too, but the colour pay off is just blah. It’s very sheer and you have to build it up, and it doesn’t even look THAT nice. So this is just a hard pass and not something I go out of my way to reach for, I probably haven’t worn this in 2+ years. Maybe I’ll try again another time.

regrets2

L-R:
Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Disco Ball
I have no nice things to say about this, this is a bottle of glitter and goop. The consistency is of dried up school glue, it’s not even usable, it’s just dried up and gloopy. It was normal for about 2 uses, and then I don’t know what happened.

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Sun Kissed
Once again, this is an old one, I want to say this is from 5-6 years ago. The formula is great, lots of people love it. I wanted an orange polish, and so I bought this. It looks bad on me so I never reach for it unless I want to do nail art with it (great for doing gradient nails!).

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Breezy Blue
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen this around lately (not sure if it has been reformulated), but I bought it a few years ago and think it has one of the worst formulas ever! It’s supposed to be a light blue with silver shimmer in it, which is what attracted me to it. This has a thick formula and applying it to your nails is a complete disaster! It applies globbily and streakily, just the worst. It takes about 4 coats to become “opaque”, but there’s still visible nail in some parts because it’s soo bad and globby blobby!

Sally Hansen Hard As Nails Xtreme Wear in Bare it All
I thought I had given this one away to someone (which I usually do with colours that I don’t like), but I guess not! This one is recent, I think I purchased it back in May. I wanted to like this one because I heard great things about it. The formula is great, the colour is nice too, but it just doesn’t suit my skin tone. It makes me look like I have dead hands, not cute. I might keep this around for nail art though.

regrets3

L-R:
L’Oreal in Skinny Jeans
This is a textured polish that came out in the middle? of 2014; nowhere in the display did it mention it was a textured polish! I hate textured polishes, they irk me. I love the colour though, and the lasting power is quite good (I’ve only worn it once), but I just don’t like textured polishes.

L’Oreal in Sexy in Sequins
This is also a textured polish, even more textured than Skinny Jeans. If it wasn’t a texture and was just a foil, I would have loved this polish. It’s a super deep, rich purple with gold textured shimmery things in it.

Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure in Pink A Card
Funny story behind this one, I actually bought TWO of these at two separate times. The first time I bought it, I wore it (didn’t like it), then lost it – I never lose nail polish. Two years later I decided to buy this one again, knowing I had lost the first one AND knowing that I didn’t like it – sometimes there’s no logic to the things I do. The formula is pretty okay for a pastel pink, my only issue is that it doesn’t suit me, it’s too white based for my liking. But I could probably wear it as a base for something like a glitter (which I don’t wear all that often, but I could do it every once in a while).

Revlon in Blue Lagoon
I’m not sure which has a worse formula, this one or SH’s Breezy Blue. This one came out I think in 2009/2010, which is when I bought it. This is a light blue with silver shimmer. The formula is horrible, it’s very thin and runny. Once you’ve applied the first coat, it’s super streaky and the shimmer looks chunky. It takes about 4-5 coats to become opaque, and even then, it just looks bad and takes ages to dry. Taking it off is also a nightmare as it leaves behind silver shimmer all over your nails and around your cuticles. You could probably layer this on top of a creme blue, but I don’t have the effort to do that.

So these are some nail polishes that I’ve regretted buying! What are some of your nail polish regrets?

– A
